Artist Statement

I take photographs of people, places and things that are often banal, yet, can give us a sense of longing or “remembering”. Nostalgia represents a way to better understand ourselves, and I have found it amazing how much of what we do and who we are is embedded in our personal and collective past – as boring as it sometimes may look or sound. In my current work, I am interested in the de-contextualization of memory from image – in effect, separating the description of one’s history from how that history might look.
