It’s taken me this long to get through the photos. This is also the first post I’ve put up in like 7 months. Which is nuts – because I’ve had some good shoots.

But, anyway, here they are –  a wide assortment of people, places and things. I went with my friend Ryan (who you will see in these photos). It was sort of a last minute thing, but it worked out really well. Him and I were at some all inclusive in Santa Clara – which was essentially about 500 very large, very obnoxious Quebeckers. Oh, who were also drunk basically ALL the time. Real classy.

Anyway, after about a three days of that, we decided it was enough. We needed to get out. So, we went to a small town called Remedios. Some of the pics below are from that drive. The next day, we took a flight to Havana and stayed there for a day and a night. Let me just say that Havana could be the most beautiful city in the world – if they fixed it. Old Havana is super cool, but the remainder of it could really be unbelievable. That being said, the crumbling facades made for beautiful views. The boardwalk is essentially a five mile expanse of worn out buildings and a rocky beach that no one goes on. There is a tide wall that prevents the water from coming onto the road. It could be so vibrant, but it wasn’t.

But, the music! Music everywhere. It was awesome. We were even able to see the surviving members of Buena Vista Social Club, which was a real treat.

Of course, I gladly obliged. We went on down to Kensington Market (where we all froze) and walked around, had some coffee, and got some work done. It was a great Sunday afternoon. And the results speak for themselves (thanks to the Duceys!). Well worth the cold. Enjoy!

P.S. My favourite is (obviously) the one with Jesus looking down on them. Be good guys – he’s watching!

Apparently, it’s not so easy to maintain regular photography blog posts AND be a lawyer at the same time. I have a whole stockpile of shoots from the summer and fall which need to go up, so stay tuned – they will be up soon!

As for now, we have little baby Alexa, who just recently made her first appearance. Wbat a great kid. She was a pleasure to shoot (and so were her parents, Mike and Marlie!). I love how this session turned out, and hope you do too. Enjoy!

The first thought I had was “how did you find me?” See, Darryl and I went to high school together, and honestly, have not seen each other since. But, I’m glad he found me, because these two are not only an amazing couple, but are so great to work with.

For their engagement session, Darryl and Bryn asked me to meet them at Bryn’s family farm. The house and barn have been there since the 1800′s, and it was absolutely gorgeous. It’s amazing the gems of locations that are out there, and most of us would have no clue.

Anyway, I loved the way these turned out, and can’t wait to photograph Byrn and Darryl’s wedding in October. If the e-shoot was any indication, we’re going to have a great time.

I will add, however, that not only was Gaynelle an absolute pleasure to work with, but also that it is incredibly satisfying to be able to photograph someone in a setting that is, usually, not the most comfortable, and see that person just let go of their inhibitions for the sake of the camera. Everyone has that in them – the ability to let their inner model or “sexiness” (is that a word?) come out. Whether they keep the images for themselves or decide to share them with another, the important point is that they see their potential in front of the lens. Those are some of the most rewarding times in photography.

Yes, Toronto, I still love you. But, New York, my seductive mistress city, really does tempt me to leave you once and for all, for a life of starving artistry, good food, and people who look like Geronimo (below) and his boy who follows.

The rest are other random people I saw around town. Some permitted me to take their photos – others didn’t or didn’t know. Not getting into the ethics of that, let’s just say that the photos were fun to take anyway. People are always the most interesting subjects.
